Contrary to what certain Hollywood celebrities are saying, there is only one way to heaven. The idea that Jesus is the only way doesn’t sit well with people who think they can live any way they choose and still go to heaven. The Bible clearly says that will not work.

I want to approach this subject from a somewhat different perspective. From the dawn of creation, humanity has hungered to know God. That’s why people in the most remote parts of the world serve some kind of God. In the absence of knowing who the One True God is, they create their own because something deep inside their hearts says there is a God.

It has been described as “A God void, or a God-shaped hole.” It is expressed Biblically in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”

The seventeenth-century philosopher, Blaise Pascal, wrote in his book, “Pensees,” “What else does this craving, and this helplessness, proclaim but that there was once in man a true happiness, of which all that now remains is the empty print and trace? This he tries in vain to fill with everything around him, seeking in things that are not there the help he cannot find in those that are, though none can help, since this infinite abyss can be filled only with an infinite and immutable object; in other words, by God himself.” It is helping people fill this God-shaped hole that has driven missionaries all over the world.

In recent years, it seems as though science has been bent on proving there is no God. It was not always that way. In fact, some of the greatest scientific minds believed in God. Galileo, “The Father of Modern Science,” was a devout Christian. Galileo didn’t use science as a means of discrediting the Bible but rather as a means to validate it. He saw no conflict between the Bible and science. Sir Isaac Newton said, “I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by men who were inspired. I study the Bible daily.” While most remember his scientific discoveries, Newton wrote frequently about Bible topics, including the Books of Daniel and Revelation. He believed that Jesus was the Messiah. Scientists like Pascal, Kepler, Pasteur, and Copernicus all believed in the God of the Bible.
