In my preaching and teaching, I have frequently said the Bible is a book about Jesus. If you remove Jesus from the pages of the Bible, you are left with a vast emptiness. It would be like plucking the stars from the heavens. I want to expand that a wee bit and say it like this, “The Bible is not just a book with a lot of stories, it is a book about God. From creation’s perfection and humanity’s imperfection, the main character is always God. The Bible is not about us; it’s about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.”

The Bible is also not primarily about what we should do, but about what God has done. Jesus came into the world and carried the burden of everything that had gone wrong. It’s about what God has done. The Bible points us to God, who made us, who loves us, and who wants us to spend eternity with Him. So, in the midst of the moral and ethical teachings of the Bible, see God. And when you see God, everything else will fall into place.
