I took this picture many years ago on one of my trips to the Holy Land. For such a small structure, it has an interesting history. Some call it the “Dome of the Spirits.” Others call it the “Dome of the Tablets.” It sits on an exposed bedrock area of Mount Moriah.

The idea of the “Dome of the Spirits” is cloaked more in superstition than reality, but the thought of the “Dome of the Tablets” is extremely interesting. It gets its name from the tablets that held the Ten Commandments, which would have been in the Ark of the Covenant, which would have been in the Holy of Holies. Does this mark the location where the Holy of Holies once stood?
