Matthew 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

We live in a day of stark contradictions. So-called Christian organizations that once held to firm Biblical truths have strayed so far from the teachings of the Bible that they certainly cannot be identified as Christian any longer. Sadly, over the past few years, we have seen an escalation of such sinful and wicked teaching. Its effect is at least two-fold.

First, it’s leading to mass deception. Multitudes who belong to such groups are being told their lifestyle choices are acceptable and pleasing to God. The Great White Throne Judgment will reveal they were not.

Secondly, Matthew 24:12 informs us that it affects those who are trying to do right. It reaches the point where many throw up their hands in defeat. They question why they should even bother to live right when everyone else is not. But verse 12 is followed by verse 13, which says, “He who endures to the end shall be saved.” 

God warned us of the great falling away of the last days, but He also told us that we do not have to be among that number. In fact, the next verse tells us that we should not grow weary in carrying this Gospel to the world. The times have changed, but God has not. A holy God requires His followers to live holy lives. We must remain faithful and do all we can to pluck the souls of sinful humanity from the fires of hell.
