A few years ago, on one of my visits to Egypt, I asked our guide about what I perceived to be discrepancies in Egyptian history. He replied very quickly and very candidly, “We erase the history we do not like and rewrite it to suit what we choose to believe.”
The revisionists in America are doing the same with our Christian heritage. Etched in the marble of the Jefferson Memorial are these words. “God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed, I tremble for my Country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever…” It makes one wonder how long it will be before those who seem bent on removing any reference to God will take a chisel to either erase or rewrite what they refuse to accept.
People who have rejected even the possibility of God may rewrite our history to erase what they hate so they can believe what they choose to believe in this 21st century, but God doesn’t change from generation to generation. His Word is constant and unchanging.
With all the problems and unfathomable issues we face today, America is still a blessed and beautiful nation. “America, America, God shed His grace on thee. And crown thy good, with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea…”
Marlene and I love you and hope you have a blessed and happy 250th Independence Day.
