~ We Say We Want Truth, Until We Hear It ~

I took this picture on one of my trips to the Holy Land. I’m standing on Mt. Precipice, overlooking Nazareth. The Church of the Annunciation is a little right of center.

For hundreds of years, the Hebrews said they couldn’t wait for the Messiah to come. When He finally did, they tried to kill Him because He didn’t fit into the box they had imagined for Him.

I frequently have conversations with people who say they want the truth, until the truth conflicts with their beliefs. Then they prefer to hear tickle my ears and say what I want you to say sermons. Times change. Customs change. Our preconceived notions are sometimes built on traditions that have become twisted over time, but God’s truth never changes.

We need to be careful, or else we may find ourselves on the edge of a cliff, trying to throw truth to its death.

One response to “~ We Say We Want Truth, Until We Hear It ~”

  1. Being able to stand there overlooking the city was an amazing feeling and one I will never forget. True, God’s truth never changes and I pray for those who are still on the fence with their faith. Amen.
