Isaiah 8:11, “The Lord spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people…”

It’s much easier to float downstream than it is to swim upstream. On a recent kayaking adventure in Florida, I was vividly reminded that it’s much easier to go with the flow than against it. Blending in with the crowd is easier than making a stand. There are many ways to express this truth, but the end result is the same. Far too many people get swept up in following the herd, without really knowing what they are doing or what they believe. They just blindly accept what they hear without taking time to see if it’s right or not. If everyone else is doing it, it must be ok. That mindset is deadly, especially when it comes to spiritual matters.

Never in the history of the world has a generation had more access to the Word of God than our generation, and yet, there is an appalling ignorance of what the Bible says. People are living unholy lives because they don’t know the standards a holy God has sent forth in His Word. A great majority of the discussions I have heard through the years revolved around the standards a human organization sets, when we should be concerned about the standard God has set.

If you follow the herd, you may find yourself running off a cliff. If you stick with the Word, it will lead you safely home to heaven.
