There were times, as a pastor, when a total stranger would stop by the church and want to talk. I’m thinking today about a young man who was searching for answers, but his mind was pretty much made up before the conversation began. More than anything, he seemed to be looking for someone who would justify his lifestyle. After some time spent comparing his choices with what the Bible says, he made this statement. “Well, I may be wrong, but I’m sincere in what I believe.” I responded, “Sir, all that makes you is sincerely wrong.”
There was a man like that in the Bible. His name was Saul. No one could question his sincerity. He truly thought he was right until he encountered the truth. But before his eyes were opened, they first had to be closed. Closed to what he previously thought to be true, and later opened to what was really true. In a day of mass deception, which the Bible told us would happen, I’m concerned that many are sincere in what they are doing, but they are sincerely wrong. Their beliefs and lifestyle are contrary to the Bible. I pray that all of us will have our eyes opened to the unchanging truths of God’s Word.
