Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock…”

I don’t hear knock, knock jokes much anymore. Maybe it’s because of the audience I’m around. I remember some that were quite amusing, while others would have been better off left unsaid. Then there’s this. Have you ever had someone knock on your door, and you wished you could ignore it? Maybe you did ignore it. According to the Bible, Jesus stands at the door of our hearts knocking, and it is no joke, and it should not be ignored.

While we often make this verse personal, and we should, the sad fact is that Jesus was standing outside the door of the church in Laodicea, wanting to come in, but they had no room for Him. Sounds like what happened when Mary was about to give birth. Sadly, many in the world still have no room for Jesus.

Every day, we make decisions. Some are more important than others, but none is more important than what we decide about Jesus. He stands with arms open wide to receive all who will let Him in. He wants to forgive, He wants to have fellowship with us, He wants us to spend eternity in heaven with Him, and yet, many refuse to open the door.

While the return of Jesus is on the lips of many today, the fact is that all of us have an appointment with Him at some point. It may be by way of the grave, or it may be when He returns as He promised. Are you ready for that day? If not, may I plead with you to open the door and let Jesus in? I promise, it will be the best door you ever opened.
